Remember the changes I discussed that may or may not happen? If not you can click here for that post. Well it seems like the changes might be started. We have read that the President in the unnamed country has signed a bill of sorts to change who handles or is responsible for the country's adoptions. This bill has to be published before it is put in effect and it is looking like it might be published this coming week. We have NO clue as to what exactly that will mean. Does it mean adoptions will shut down while transfer of power takes place? Unsure. Does it mean nothing more than another department overseeing the way things are currently handled? Unsure.
We really do not have any concrete answers at this time. We are praying for the best. That is all we can do. What I do know is that we have moved far enough in the process that our names will be submitted to our embassy as waiting for our government approval. We are hoping our petitions that are normally submitted at the same time the dossier is will be handed in ahead of time. We are praying that those families that are within a couple of months submission will be still ok if a temporary stop occurs while they transfer duties. Again this is speculation as it could just mean a new name for the agency. It could mean that they may allow special needs adoptions to continue. We are hoping to hear more within the week. I can honestly say that I felt the air going out of my body when I read this. I am seriously coping by taking it a minute at a time. One minute I am confident the next frightened. Until I have concrete answers that is how I am going to be rollin'- a minute at a time.
I contacted our local US Congressman, Dale Kildee and asked for help in expediting our USCIS petition. I contacted him via email yesterday and am hoping to get a response Monday. I also plan on visiting his office here to see if I can get some information on this matter. Please pray for not only us but other families in our situation as well.
Please also consider getting in on our fundraiser and giftaway. Seriously we need to raise funds quickly. We need to make sure that funding is NOT going to hold us back from getting to our son. If the pieces fit together in the way I am praying, we need to be ready to board the plane as soon as his country says GET HERE!! Consider buying a Jacob Warner print or just making a tax deductible donation by clicking on the button to the right with Cliff/Warner on it.
Again please continue to pray for us as we work hard and rush to get to our son.
Tonight Dateline will be running a piece about the boy from baby house 10. This is a story about a boy who was in an orphanage transferred to an institution where he was adopted out of. He was considered one of the unwanted. Maybe you can get some indication on why I am passionate to get my son home where he belongs.
Well that is all I have for today.. my sad minute is taking hold and I must go pray!
