Well so many things I wanted to accomplish today. We have our Powers of Attorney paperwork ready to be notarize and faxed for approval. This will give the facilitators in the unmentionable Eastern Europe country power to act on our behalf there to make sure our intentions are given to the higher ups so they can pull Cliff's file aside for us. It ensures that any paperwork needed to be filled out or obtained can be done right on their end allowing us to concentrate on this end. Hopefully ensuring a speedier and smoother road for us. Once we get approval that those particular papers will pass muster we must drive to Lansing and get them apostilled. Then we can overnight them to the facilitators there. Well wouldn't you know that we were in the heart of the snowstorm of the century. Well I do not know if that is what they are calling it but from looking out my front window, I don't remember this much snow at one time being dumped on us in a very long time.
Now we Michiganders know snow.. we know it well and it has been a long time where snow would cause our city to be essentially at a stand still. But it seems as though it has. Our snowplows have essentially given up at this time not because of the snow but because people decided to venture out before the plows and their disabled vehicles are blocking roadways for the snow crew to get their job done.
So I guess you could say mother nature did not get our memo about places to go, things to do and people to see. Dave and the two older boys are working on clearing the doorways (we have a 3 ft snow drift in front of them) and shoveling the sidewalk. We might be able to venture out in a couple of hours but it looks doubtful.
What does this mean? Well it means that now we probably won't get notarized till tomorrow which means even if I fax over the papers tomorrow we probably won't get approval till Saturday which means Lansing will now have to wait till Tuesday since I have a doctors appointment on Monday. Basically it sets us back a couple of days. I know it might seem like not that bad however for Cliff every day counts.
I know that every day it seems as though I am begging for some tax deductible donation. And today is not any different, I do need those donations however I am looking for other ideas as well. I realize that to reach my goal that asking for donations even if it is a tax deduction for some may not inspire people to donate. So here is another challenge.. yes that is right her and her challenges :) Maybe you are a business or know of a business that could donate an item for me to have a giveaway for those that donate or share this blog. Maybe you have participated or had a giveaway on your blog that you could lend me your advice on how to properly have one.. such as keeping track of donations etc. Maybe you sell things on the side and would be willing to donate a percentage of sales to Cliff's adoption fund. Or maybe you have other suggestions to help? Please email me at lisarenee1987@yahoo.com with any and all ideas you have. Oh yes and again please share share share!!!!
We are praying for your and the arrival of Cliff. He is a special little boy and will be a treasure to your home and family. Hang in there and we will hold you close.
ReplyDeleteThank you Don! I read your blog and am sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in our prayers and thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWell, here's an idea...

We can't adopt (ten kiddos and not enough income to qualify!) but we're helping 3 children on RR find homes. Through a series of giveaways in December and right now, we have been able to help raise $22,000 for them. Maybe you could do something like we did- praying for you!
Hello Lisa,
ReplyDeleteWe have a major burden for these kids and will probably adopt again. My heart breaks for Cliff and want him in your arms ASAP.
Is it possible and if you are willing, I will put your Reece's Rainbow fund raising request link on my blog. I am not sure how to do this, but I have put you all over my facebook. He needs to come home.
Let me know if there is anything else we can do, beyond praying.
My email address is dcrane@parkchapel.org
ReplyDeleteI was looking at my credit card reward points. I saw that you can actually donate them to a charity. I have Capital One, but I am sure other cc companies do it too. Reece's Rainbow even shows up on Capital One's charity list!
