This one won't be so long winded as tonight I can actually say I am tired. The time differences etc really were kicking our behinds lately but hopefully we are slowly but surely becoming "normal" at least for here. This morning we were super excited to go see Joshua but our translator has encouraged us to use taxis to get to the orphanage for a few days so we rely on her calling for our taxi and today she was very busy and missed our call. It takes an hour to walk to the orphanage and by the time we would have gotten there it would have cut a big chunk out of our time so we missed our visit. But we did get to see him this afternoon.
We noticed on the first day that they had cut his fingernails really really short. To the point that it looked like one of his little fingers was getting infected. We mentioned it yesterday and we were really happy to see him tonight and the doctor has taken care of it and his little finger had this huge bandage over it. We are very blessed that he is in one of the best orphanages that actually have a doctor that visits each child daily. We think he may be getting a cold of sorts or an infection. His nose was very congested. Hopefully it won't hinder our visits with him.
I also want to make sure that everyone understands that my post yesterday was not to complain. Really we are finding humor in every part of this adventure. Even the mishaps.. because if you know me then you know that life would not be complete without a few mishaps along the way. We also have found this journey to really show us that no matter what God throws our way we are lucky. Every day we realize how much we have compared to other countries. Things we truly take for granted. And we see every day how people who have never known some of the luxuries we take for granted and how they truly seem happy with what they do have.
I guess what I am trying to do is just paint a picture using my words and photos of life here in a country that does not really see many tourists coming just to visit. While we are really missing our family at home we are having a fun time with every single part of our journey. And the people here have not been rude to us at all.. it is really just a different way of living and we are having a ball just exploring and living it. So now for the more important thing.. pictures of Joshua today.

Very sweet, hope you get some rest. The first week I was totally off and couldn't sleep but now I am ok.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie you have! Thanks for sharing the funny stories (like the TP/paper towels) Having a good attitude about this kind of stuff keeps ya sane. I remember I bought some stuff I thought was butter and it turned out to be peach-flavored spread of some kind. I never COULD figure out which one was butter!! And I can totally relate to ALL the walking.
