Meeting Joshua...

Well we have been without internet since coming into our region yesterday morning but we are finally online!! I was going to fill you in yesterday on our 15 hour train ride and our mishaps with our apartment when we got here but that can wait for another day as today was meet Joshua day!

After a very restless night (we have a fourth floor flat overlooking the busiest street where concerts play at all times and of course it gets light at 4a here), we headed out with our facilitator/translator to go to the children's department here where we gave them our referral. The woman asked us how many children we had and why we wanted another child. She asked why we chose one with Down syndrome and then gave us permission to go to the orphanage. At the orphanage we met with their director where she gave us more information on Joshua.

We know he was born on March 30,2010 and weighed 6.9lbs and was 20 and half inches long. His parents gave up their rights as soon as they knew he had Down syndrome and he has been in this orphanage since he was 2 months old. He has a grandmother that has visited him but knows he is being adopted and is ok with it. Today he weighs 19.8 lbs and is 28 inches long. No known heart issues no major illnesses and has had chicken pox. They describe him as very kind :)

We then were taken to a separate room where we waited for Joshua to be brought to us. He was all smiles when he came in and went right to us. One thing he does is laugh or get a big smile when we lift him. The boy is going to love the rides!! He learned to sit at 1 year and has 2 bottom teeth but he is drooling a lot and when I looked into his mouth he has the top two coming in. Normally video and pictures are scarce for me but who can deny the cute little red headed, blue-eyed little boy his time to shine?
