Our family!

Wonderful news!!

Take a look at our donation box!!!! We have been so blessed to be given a $5,000 donation to bringing our Joshua home!! God is truly great!

So here is how it happened- Karen from WillowsEdge Counseling and Art therapy had been promoting our fundraiser for Jacob's prints and a friend of hers had read about our story and she was moved by it. For those that are not aware, Karen gave up her time and energy to help make and promote the prints we are selling to help raise our adoption funds. A friend of hers saw the link or print and wanted to help our family. There is a foundation that her family has that usually awards money in a specific state and needless to say it was not our state. She went to great lengths to fight for Joshua and our family. I do not know if she wants her name out there in blogger land but Becky- my family thanks you and we can't wait to meet you in person when Joshua is home.

It is amazing- I am actually having a hard time coming up with words to post about this. There are so many emotions that words on a computer just can't convey. A few days ago, I was seriously wondering if we would be able to raise enough funds to make this happen. And today God brought us another angel for our journey.

We are praying to get a travel date next week but most likely our date will come the following week. Seems travel has been averaging about a month out from when you submit so quite possibly we will have an appointment date around June 12th. We are so ready now.

Remember my posts about possible upcoming changes in adoption for Joshua's country? Well we did get some news on that front. Seems a new law is going to be in place basically stating that children will not be able to be adopted by foreigners before the age of 5 UNLESS there is a special circumstance or illness that they list. Plus children will have to be on their registry for a year too. They have not posted a list yet but it should not affect those children with Ds as we are certain that will be on their list. There is still no word on whether adoptions will be temporarily stopped while they implement the changes. I have mixed emotions on this one- glad that special needs children should not be affected by this new law but a sadness that any child would have to wait until 5 in those awful places.

I received in my inbox today a little video... no it is not of Joshua but of little Blake. I am still determined to find this little guy a family. It also gives you an idea of where these kids have to sit for great lengths of time with little to do. The newest picture of Joshua was with him sitting in one of those seats. Makes me sad because in this short little video I  see little Blake rocking a bit which is common for these children to provide some stimulation and comfort for themselves. It was taken on April 10th of this year. Please pass the word about Blake, Also if you even have an inkling that adoption is something you want to do you can contact me and I can help steer you in the right direction or answer any questions you might have.

  1. Yay for $5,000! That is amazing! I ordered 2 of Jacob's prints and they came in the mail yesterday. They are so sweet. We area adopting Quinton and were submitted the same day. If I'm not mistaking, I think their regions or orphanages are near each other. Maybe we will get to meet you all when we travel. I can't wait until our little guys' pictures are on the already home page :)
